Cows of Covington – Lanarkshire

The children at Robert Owen Primary school did a fine job designing this limited-edition bottle for Hillhead of Covington Milk Hut in South Lanarkshire. The Milk Hut (an impressively converted shipping container complete with a toilet) offers terrific views of the surrounding countryside. It provides a spectacular setting for one to sip the gently pasteurised, non-homogenised whole milk produced by a herd of four hundred Holstein cows. The girls graze on the south banks of the River Clyde, which at 110 miles long is the third-longest river in Scotland and ninth longest in the UK. Nearby (less a 1km), the ruined rectangular tower of the 12th century Covington Castle can be seen from the road. If one continues a few steps further along Covington Road, you will arrive at Thankerton Parish Church.
